Designed for remote telemetry applications such as oil and gas, wind energy, geological, meteorological, forestry, hydrology, emergency preparedness, government and utilities Environmental and any other remote use that supports RS232/485 interface.
Globalstar data services help deliver information from remote areas where key business or operational data is collected, saving time and money for countless companies.
Crystalline Technology, Inc developed a platform that provides the TCP/IP and Data Logging services through the Globalstar data services.
Safety Standards:
- ExtraNET CC is UL 913
- Class I, II, III
- Division 1 and 2
CSA 22.2 Intrinsically safe and non-incendive equipment for use in Hazardous locations
One wireless provider to deal with, satellite coverage, at cellular rates
With an install based on nearly 1,000 devices in 2007 ExtraNET and the ExraNET family of products are designed to go beyond standard communications, what we can provide is a high degree of reliable communication to the remote field where there is no cellular coverage, where traditional devices such as the CDPD, Airlink and other modems or Microwave towers just are either too costly or will not work. .
The ExtraNET is device that can provide a restart to your Globalstar 1620 data modem, if your modem loses power. By design the 1620 modem does not recover from a power outage, or a reset, our ExtraNET will allow this to happen and run in the normal state.
The ExtraNET CC is a full TCP/IP stack built to assist the Globalstar 1620 data modem, a seamless point to point or point to multi-point satellite communication solution. ExtraNET CC was designed to allow you to control your own network with an easy to set up package that makes communication to remote assets a breeze.
Environment friendly and easy to use makes this low power communication solution ideal for many applications. The ExtraNET CC is built using a durable NEMA 4x Fiberglass or Aluminum sealed box and can be mounted to any mast or stand in just a few minuets The Globalstar® satellite network allows you to get data to and from almost anywhere. Crystalline Technology, Inc. has developed an inexpensive communication medium that will take the place of towers, microwaves, phones lines and most terrestrial based communication systems without the need for costly infrastructure.
The easy to use interface lets you set up the ExtraNET CC for your project, simply plug into a computer and access the menu driven configuration.
ExtraNET CC takes care of the IP network requirements and provides a transparent RS232 or RS485 interface to your equipment. It works with almost any host that supports TCP or UDP over a protected IP network giving you the complete comfort of managing your own data.

ExtraNET `Avalanche`:
The Avalanche version of ExtraNET CC is designed to operate in a store-and-forward configuration. This is useful in applications which require on-site data logging and/or need to be configured to transmit data at pre-determined intervals. This addresses many of the common coverage problems that can be encountered with a LEO satellite constellation and can be particularly useful in areas with a limited view of the sky. Scheduling a transmission to take place can significantly reduce airtime costs incurred due to incomplete connection attempts. It also virtually eliminates the need for a host system to continually retry a data connection if satellite coverage is not available at the remote site during the connection attempt.
Features:
- On-site storage of data
- Fully customizable scheduled polling and reporting
- Can be polled remotely using free SMS messages through the Globalstar Gateway
- Data can be delivered to any email address as an attachment in either binary format or as a human-readable CSV file.
- With scheduled reporting, the modem can be put to sleep between connections to save power.
- Support for industry standard GFM protocols such as Modbus and Fisher ROC.

Globalstar secure VPN is used with most ExtraNET CC applications
The Globalstar Static IP/VPN service allocates static IP addresses to Globalstar modems, and isolates this traffic between the Globalstar Gateways and customer offices across a Virtual Private Network (VPN). This service offers several benefits to customers, including increased security, and the ability to make mobile - terminated (inbound) calls on the Globalstar Packet Data service.
The Static IP/VPN service enables true mobile terminated (MT) calling over Packet Data. By simply sending IP packets to the IP address of the modem, a call is initiated from the ground, and completed in less than 10 seconds. There are many customer applications that could benefit from this feature.
Another key element of Static IP/VPN is that it provides increased security. Some customers ask for a VPN, or a dedicated circuit, because they want to eliminate the exposure of the Internet on their network. With dynamic IP, an ISP cannot filter traffic from customers and prevent it from getting to a given customer across a VPN; by combining static IP addresses on modems, and using a filtered ground link (such as a VPN) between a customer and Globalstar, a more secure system can be built.
